Deltra’s Story

Deltra is a single mother of five girls living in Connecticut. Diagnosed with Triple Negative MBC in 2019, she has had to deal with the many challenges of living with this disease in addition to the challenge of her marriage ending after her diagnosis.

With no car or employment and the impact of the COVID pandemic, Deltra was struggling to provide basic needs for her children. The threat of not being able to keep a roof over her family's head became a real concern.

Infinite Strength stepped in and offered Deltra and her children the hope they so desperately needed. This included the security of knowing their rent was paid for six months, plus UBER cards and food cards to ensure their family had access to basic necessities. In addition, she and her children were able to join Infinite Strength's HOPE Retreat where they met other families and made strong connections within the community.

While Deltra will be in treatment for the rest of her life, and sometimes struggles with the physical and emotional side effects, the help she received from Infinite Strength was life changing. She was given the opportunity to concentrate on helping her daughters cope with all the changes in their young lives and additionally, she was able to find employment.

Deltra continues to be a fierce advocate for the MBC community and uses her voice to educate and inspire others. She also shares Infinite Strength's mission whenever she can so that other single mothers living with MBC understand they are not alone and that help exists.

Our Movement

Children are heavily affected when their mother is diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer — especially when they live in a single parent household. One minute they have a mother who can provide for them financially and emotionally, and the next minute she is fighting for her life. The changes these children will encounter in such a short period of time can take an emotional toll on them at their most vulnerable years of life.

We will continue to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves and we will help lift financial burdens off of single mothers so they can focus on their children and treating their disease.

Infinite Strength is the only nonprofit in the country to provide six months of recurring financial support to underserved single mothers living with MBC.
